Year 6 - Mary's Big Breakfast
Back to Latest News
This morning, Year 6 held their annual fundraiser 'Mary's Big Breakfast' in honour of Mary Ireland. She was a school governor who unfortunately passed away as a result of cancer, so the fundraiser was held to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Year 6 spent time baking a range of breakfast goods including jam tarts, shortbread biscuits and flapjacks. When baking, the children showed fantastic knowledge of the skills required to stay safe and hygenic within the kitchen, and were able to show high levels of independence when making the desserts.
The children also spent time writing a formal invitation to their parents/carers inviting them to attend the fundraiser. They were able to use a range of persuasive devices and the features of a formal letter within their writing, and were proud of the letters they had producued. To show their creativity further, the children created menus for their fundraiser, where they included unique designs and calligraphy.
Well done to Year 6 for being fantastic global citizens and raising money for a great cause.
