International Day of Languages – September 21st 2025
To celebrate the International Day of Languages on September 21st, pupils at Drapers’ Maylands Primary School explored the wide variety of languages spoken within our school community. Each class took time to learn about the home languages of their peers, creating multilingual displays and sharing simple greetings in different languages. We also virtually visited several countries, discovering what languages are spoken there and exploring key cultural traditions, such as clothing, music, and festivals. This helped pupils understand the rich diversity of cultures around the world and within their own classrooms. During the day we had a wonderful whole-school lunch, where pupils enjoyed international dishes such as paella from Spain, vegetable samosas from India, and pasta from Italy. The event not only promoted language learning, but also encouraged respect, curiosity, and celebration of our global community.
