Year 4 – Tunnels
Back to Latest News
In Year 4 this week, we were fortunate to have a visitor that told us about what is happening to the A12.Then, on Tuesday we went on a tunnel walk to see the machine. We got to see a crane and we asked a man who worked on the A12 questions and if he did not know the answer, we would get a prize .When we were going back to school, the rain poured on us very hard.
On Wednesday, we made trench stew which was what the soldiers used to eat in the trenches. The soldiers used to throw anything they could find into the stew such as carrots, bread, potatoes or even canned meat if they had some. That is what we used in our stew but we also used other vegetables. Then we tasted it and some children liked it and the others did not but most of the children thought it was okay.
Then on Thursday we did science and we did an egg experiment. We put 5 eggs into tiny containers which had liquids in it such as coke, orange juice, water, saltwater and vinegar and we left them for a week. The one that did the most damage was vinegar and the one that did the least damage was water and saltwater.
