What a busy first week back it has been in Year 6! On Monday we celebrated Dia de Los Muertos, looking back at our learning from last year and continuing to read and write sentences about family in Spanish.

We also celebrated Diwali this week with a morning of activities down in Early Years. The children supported our youngest children to learn a Diwali dance, make a Diya lamp and learn the story of Rama and Sita. After that, we enjoyed a special Diwali lunch.

On Outdoor Classroom Day, both classes enjoyed Forest School sessions this week, taking the opportunity to enjoy role-play with their friends and develop their teamwork and communication skills.

In Maths we have continued learning about decimal numbers, and exploring place value. Reminder to parents and carers for when helping at home - when we multiply a number by a multiple of 10, the digits move to the left (sometimes a place holder zero is needed, but not always).

The children in Year 6 were journalists this year, writing newspaper reports about the death of the sheriff in our class story - Holes. They focused on creating engaging headlines, well-crafted opening sentences and interesting witness statements.
