Year 3 - Multiplying by 10
Back to Latest News
Year 3 have enjoyed learning how to multiply 2-digit numbers by 10 this week. We looked at place value grids and explored how numbers shift one place to the left when they are multiplied by 10. On the playground we went outside to explore this further! Seeing how the numbers physically move has helped children to explain their answers.
We have also enjoyed preparing for the firework evening. Through Chatta, we were introduced to new vocabulary which could describe fireworks and the children then applied this by writing an invitation to the event. The children have enjoyed designing and planning their enterprise projects and have been busy working on the advertising of these stalls. Seal Class will have a 'Pull the String' stall and Otter Class will be hosting a limbo competition!
Additionally, as this week is UK Parliament Week, we have discussed the UK Parliament and considered issues which we could write to our local MP about. Having collated ideas on behalf of year 3 the school coucillors worked to compose these emails.
