Year 3 - Queen Mary University of London Visit 2

Year 3 had an exciting and inspiring second visit from the fantastic scientists at Queen Mary’s University this week, and took part in a series of hands-on activities, designed to bring the wonderful world of science to life.

The children worked in groups to rotate around three engaging carousel activities, each offering a unique scientific experience.

In one activity, children became mini chemists as they used pipettes to investigate whether different liquids were acids or alkalis. They carefully tested each substance and observed the reactions, learning about the fascinating chemical processes happening before their eyes.

Another group explored the world of thermal imaging. The children were amazed as they used a thermal imaging camera to look at their friends and surroundings, discovering how heat can be detected and visualised. They noticed differences in temperature and began to understand how this technology is used in the real world.

The final activity took the children on a journey through space, where they explored solar systems and galaxies, matching models to real-life images.
