Year 3 stepped back in time for an exciting and immersive History experience, recreating their very own Viking Battle!

To begin their journey, the children explored the fascinating world of Viking shields. They researched traditional designs, discovering how colours and patterns were used to represent identity, protection and strength.

Inspired by their findings, the children carefully planned their own shield designs, sketching ideas on paper before bringing them to life. Using cardboard and paint, each child created a unique shield, showcasing creativity and historical understanding.

With their shields at the ready, Seal and Otter Class gathered on the playground for a thrilling Viking vs Anglo-Saxon battle reenactment. The children fully embraced their roles, using their knowledge to act out this key part of British history.

It was a fantastic way to bring learning to life, combining creativity, teamwork and historical enquiry.
