Year 6 - Careers Convention and Dragons' Den

The annual Drapers’ Maylands Careers Convention took place on Friday, where children in Year 6 had the fantastic opportunity to meet and speak with professionals from a wide range of careers. Representatives included Doctors, Accountants, CEOs and Police Officers, who shared insights into their roles and experiences. During the event, pupils were able to ask questions about what each job involves and the qualifications needed to pursue these careers. This valuable experience encouraged Year 6 pupils to start thinking about their future ambitions and possible career paths as they prepare for the next stage of their education.

Year 6 also had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Drapers' Maylands Dragons' Den event on Friday. For the past few weeks, children in Year 6 have been creating business plans for innovative businesses and projects they would like to create. On Friday, their business plans were judged by 'The Dragons' - four CEOs and founders of successful companies. The finalists presented their business plans to The Dragons, and groups were awarded certificates based on their innovation, presentation skills and business plan potential.
