Year 6 - Native American Dreamcatchers

Year 6 have enjoyed learning about Native American cultures and traditions throughout the past few weeks. They have particularly enjoyed learning about the Legend of the Dreamcatcher, which originated in the Ojibwe tribe. The children were fascinated by the ancient tale, and wanted to learn more about dreamcatchers and how they are used to protect from nightmares. 

The children had the opportunity to then create their own dreamcatchers. To do this, they used a range of natural resources including wood, wool and feathers. They created their dreamcatchers both within the classroon, but also in Forest School. Year 6 used a range of weaving techniques to create the web in the dreamcatcher.
