Year 6 - The Big Moon Debate

As part of Science Week, Year 6 have been learning about the Moon and whether NASA really landed on the Moon in 1969. The children researched about the Moon landing and looked at both for and against arguments. They found it interesting that some people believe the Moon landing did not happen because NASA have not been back to the Moon since and for various other reasons. They also were interested in the fact that parts of lunar rocks were brought back as Scientific evidence showing that NASA did go the Moon.

As part of the children's learning, in Writing they wrote a discursive piece based on whether NASA actually went to the Moon. They came up with strong for and against arguments and were able to use excellent vocabulary throughout to persuade their readers.

Furthermore, they finished the week by having a debate on if the Moon landings actually happened. Some children argued it did whilst others argued it did not. The arguments were spoken clearly by the children and the end decision was that the Moon landing did actually happen.

Year 6 showed high levels of engagement and curiosity during this week's learning about the Moon and clearly learnt a range of skills and knowledge from the week.
