Year 6 - Around Asia in a Day

Today, children travelled around Asia as part of a WOW day to introduce our new unit of learning- The Far East. 

Each child had their passport, as well as boarding passes to three countries in Asia- Jordan, China and India. The children travelled from one country to the next, and learnt more about each country's geography, history and traditions. In each country, children were also able to try some of the traditional foods, including pita bread, hummus, mint tea, gyoza, popadoms and mango chutney. They also learnt how to write their names in Arabic, Mandarin and Hindi. 

Some of the children said: 

'My favourite part was learning how to use chopsticks to eat the gyoza- it was so hard!' 

'I can't believe that India and China both have populations of more than 1 billion.' 

'I didn't think I liked hummus, but I did! I'm really proud of myself for trying something new.'

'Writing my name in different languages was so much fun' 

'This is my favourite day that we have ever had!'
