Year 6 - DT Christmas Cards

Today, Year 6 learnt how to make a new mechanism in DT, this mechanism was used within their Christmas card. The children started by accurately measuring 3 rectangles on a piece of card, they then placed the 3 parts together (with split pins) by following instructions, which made a push and pull mechanism. After this, they attached a Father Christmas to the mechanism and they were able to design their cards how they wanted to. Some children were extremely creative with their designs and decided to make presents move with the mechanism, others decided to make another object like carrots move with the push and pull. Each design was unique and the children enjoyed giving their card to someone special at home.
