Dormouse & Hedgehog Class - Ourdoor Classroom Day

For outdoor classroom day, Dormouse and Hedgehog class had a fantastic time taking part in a variety of activities, exploring and maintaining our beautiful school grounds.

We headed to the Sciece Garden and learnt that many animals, including hedgehogs and dormice, hibernate. This means they store up lots of energy so that they can rest through winter. Some people think it means to sleep, but they just have a long rest to help them stay sheltered from the cold weather. With this in mind, we wanted to make sure that our Science Garden was prepared for our woodland friends during the wintertime by refreshing and creating new shelters for them. We also went on a colour hunt using our colour charts, to see how many beautiful autumnal shades we could find.

In our Early Years Garden, we made sure to maintain our vegetable beds by taking out any weeds and raking through the soil. We also got to use our senses to find and smell the fragrant herbs that we plated last term. Finally, we got in the spirit for our Professional Fireworks Display and took part in some firework dancing, using scarves and streamers to create our own fireworks as we moved.

What an exciting day!
