Today, Year 6 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Queen Mary’s University of London. At the visit, the children had the chance to develop their confidence and resilience by exploring what it is like to be a student at university, as well as explore the skills necessary as they step into secondary school.

Year 6 took part in a variety of workshops, including budgeting and time management activities. The children also had the opportunity to take part in a scavenger hunt around the university, where they found different subject buildings as well as student accommodations.

Finally, Year 6 enjoyed a Science show titled ‘Snot, Sick and Scabs’ presented by experts at Queen Mary’s University. The children learnt about different cells in our body and how they protect us, and even had the opportunity to make vomit! The children were all able to use their Science learning about the human circulatory system to support them during this workshop.

The children said:

'It is very important I save for my pension.'

'I have to make sure my timetable is balanced in secondary school.'

'When I grow up, I would love to come to this university!'

Well done Year 6 for showing curiosity and a love for learning during the visit!
