Gardening - The Big Sow
Back to Latest News
Before half term each child decorated a yoghurt pot (recycled from school dinners) and then as part of ‘the big sow’ they planted some seeds to grow for a school plant sale. Each class visited the outdoor classroom, filled their pots with compost and then sowed a variety of seeds to grow.
Each class then had to look after their seeds, watering them and making sure they weren’t in the direct sunlight.
Some plants fared better than others but the gardeners planted some extra just in case…..
We then had a plant sale after school so parents could buy their child’s plant. We had tomatoes, mange tout, nasturtium on offer as well as some home grown veg grown by the school gardeners
We raised over £100 to go towards more gardening equipment! Thank you so much to everyone for taking part and for parents for buying the plants. We hope they are thriving!
