Year 3 Making a Shaduf

Over the last week we have been using our designing skills to design and build a fully functioning shadu.

Ask your child to explain to you what a shaduf is?

We worked on a prototype using straws but soon realised this wasn't strong enough, so after a little discussion and evaluation we thought about making one with wood. 

We have used a numbers of skills in making a shaduf. We have designed, planned, measured, sawed, used a hot glue gun and woven to build this shaduf. We have also been learning how to write instructions and are in the process of writing instructions to show year 4, how to make a shaduf. 

Ask your child, what skill they enjoyed the most and which they found most challenging? 

Also ask them to tell you how to make a shaduf, including a list of equipment that you will need.
