Dormouse & Hedgehog Class - WC 14.03.22

This week was Science Week – and we have been very busy in Reception!

We learned all about the Palaeontologist, Mary Anning, who was a famous fossil hunter and collector. She found and identified many pre-historic fossils from the time of the dinosaurs and sold them to make money for her family. The children in Dormouse and Hedgehog Class made their own fossil using salt dough. As well as this they have created art work of fossils and painted some beautiful still life flowers.

We planted some tomato and leek seeds in egg boxes, which will be transferred to our garden beds after the Easter break.

We have been learning about life cycles and even have our very own caterpillars! We will watch them develop through the various stages and turn into butterflies.

Dormouse Class enjoyed their Forest School session, building dens, climbing, hanging a swing, using a hammock and identifying insects and plants/trees in the woodland.
