Year 5 had an amazing day at Science Museum on Thursday. We began our learning on Wednesday by looking at the website and using Chatta to learn more about the different exhibits that we would go to at the museum.

On Thursday, we left at 8am and on our way saw different, historic landmarks in London. The children loved seeing landmarks like River Thames and London Eye and were amazed at how beautiful Westminster Abbey was.

Once we arrived at the museum, we went to the Exploring Space Exhibit where the children saw satellite probes, rockets and landers. They were amazed at how astronauts are able to breathe, eat, drink and even go to the toilet in space.

Making the Modern World was the second exhibit we saw and the children made comparisons to inventors they had learnt about already this term. The gallery represented some of the most remarkable objects, which the children enjoyed talking about.

After lunch, we visited the Medicine gallery where the children saw extraordinary medical artefacts. They loved discussing with each other how medicine has changed over the years and were fascinated by what they saw.

Finally, we visited the Who Am I? section which was some of the children's favourite part of the day. They explored the science of DNA, what makes us unique and personality traits. The children enjoyed the interactive games and hands-on exhibits.

It was a fantastic day at the London Science Museum and the children were able to build on knowledge learnt in the classroom with a real life experience.

We are looking forward to our next trip already Year 5!
