This week we have started our new theme: The Wild West. First we started by talking about which continent The Wild West is in - North America. The children have learnt which countries are in North America, as well as found out some facts about population, landmarks and natural features. After the introduction to North America, the children worked with a partner to research an animal species native to that area and create a presentation about it.

In Literacy we have continued reading the story 'Holes'. In the story. Stanley's father is an inventor, so we had a go at writing persuasive adverts for some of his inventions. These included Dog Goggles, Baby Mops, Chopstick Fans and Creepy Creature Cups.

In Maths this week we have been learning about radius and diameter. The children have learnt how to use a compass, and then used one to create a shield and a mandala.

In Science this week we have been learning about the digestive system. The children created a model of the digestive system using a biscuit, a banana, some orange juice and a pair of tights. Ask them about what this demonstrated!
