What a fantastic day we have had! The children were excited as we boarded the coach and set off on our journey to Colchester zoo. We saw many animals, from tiny clown fish to enormous elephants. We were absolutely amazed by the tiger pacing up and down in front of us and the highlight of the day was walking through the tunnel with the sealions swimming over us.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the sun and had a very informative talk about 'Habitats' run by the education team at Colchester zoo. Here we were able to feel the different furs of tigers which enabled us to discuss why the thickness of the fur varied depending on the climate of their habitat.

Ask your children:

What was your favourite animal? Why? Where does it live? What type of animal is it? (mammal, fish, reptile, amphibian or investerbrates)
