Year 3 - Ancient Egypt

This week marked an exciting start to our new unit of learning as the children embarked on their Ancient Egypt archaeological expedition!

We began the day by introducing the new topic and invited the children to share what they already knew about Ancient Egypt. We then explored maps to locate Egypt, identifying it within the continent of Africa, and found the River Nile. Together, we started to think about why this great river was so important to life in Ancient Egyptian times.

To fully immerse ourselves in the experience, the children took part in a hands-on Food Technology activity inspired by Egyptian cuisine. Working collaboratively, one group carefully chopped and prepared ingredients for the falafel, another group shaped and moulded the falafel ready to be fried, while the final group measured ingredients for and blended the hummus.

It was a brilliant day of discovery that combined History, Geography and practical skills, leaving the children excited and eager to continue their journey into the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt!
