Award Winning Headteacher Attends ‘Oscars’ of the Teaching Profession

The atmosphere was one of celebration, pride, and national recognition as Trudy Spillane, Executive Principal of Drapers’ Maylands Primary School and Drapers’ Pyrgo Priory School, attended the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards Ceremony in London. Often described as the “Oscars of the teaching profession,” the annual event brought together teachers, lecturers, support staff and institutions from across the UK to celebrate the extraordinary impact educators have on young lives.

Earlier this year, Ms Spillane was announced as a Silver Award winner for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School, a remarkable achievement that placed her among the top educators nationwide. The ceremony provided a special opportunity to come together with fellow award winners and educational leaders to celebrate all those recognised for their exceptional contributions to education.

The glittering ceremony, hosted at The Brewery in Central London and presented by BBC broadcaster Gaby Roslin, highlighted inspiring stories from classrooms across the country and celebrated the dedication of those who enable children and young people to thrive.

For the Drapers’ Multi-Academy Trust, the event served as a reminder of the inclusive, ambitious and nurturing culture the Trust community continues to build together.

For over a quarter of a century, the Pearson National Teaching Awards have celebrated the unsung heroes of education. Established and run by the Teaching Awards Trust, the awards highlight the extraordinary difference made every day by teachers, early years educators and support staff.
