Year 3 - Egyptian Day

What an amazing day Year 3 experienced. Our Egyptian event was filled with fun and exciting activities, interesting and information workshops and a range of interactive undertakings which kept us busy and engaged all day long.

The ancient Egyptians were a civilization that flourished for over 3,000 years in the Nile River valley of northeastern Africa. They were known for their impressive monuments like the pyramids, their unique writing system (hieroglyphs), and their belief in a complex afterlife. They were skilled farmers and builders, and their society was organized around a pharaoh, who was considered a god-king.

Like the Egyptians, year 3 enjoyed playing games, hunting and dressing in masks and clothing. We also became archeologist, digging for buried artefacts in the sand, decoding hieroglyphs and using reed pens to draw Egyptian symbols.

We were all intrigued and shocked when watching the Pharaoh having his organs removed and then being mummified.
