This week, Year 1 enjoyed an unforgettable visit to Southend Sealife Adventure, packed with excitement, learning, and plenty of animal encounters. We discovered a wide range of sea creatures, from fish native to our own coastlines to exotic species from rivers and oceans around the globe.

One of the highlights was the Wild Zone, where the children met monkeys, meerkats, mongoose, and tortoises. It was wonderful to see them applying their Science learning so confidently, describing animal features, classifying animals into groups, and using clues from their diets to identify whether they were herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.

We also stepped back in time with the dinosaur exhibit, where roaring replicas brought the prehistoric world to life. Afterwards, we moved on to the butterfly enclosure, where some lucky children had butterflies land on them! Feeding time for the meerkats and penguins was another favourite, with lots of giggles and fascination as the animals tucked into their meals.

Can your child tell you what they enjoyed the most about their visit? Which animal was their favourite? Did they learn any amazing facts they would like to share?
