What an exciting day it was for Year 2 in Forest School as the children took part in a fire-making session! It was a day full of learning and teamwork

The adventure began with a special lesson on how to light a fire safely. The children were introduced to the technique of using flint and steel to create a spark—and they were so excited when they managed to ignite some cotton. It took patience and practise, but the determination from each child was amazing to see.

After plenty of hands-on experience, it was finally time for the real thing! With support and guidance, the children helped to ignite a real fire. We all gathered carefully around the flames, learning about how to stay safe, show respect for fire, and enjoy the warmth and glow together as a group.

To finish the session, we sang songs around the fire. It was a day full of confidence-building and practical skills!
