Year 6 - World Maths Day

Today, Year 6 enjoyed taking part in a range of activities to celebrate World Maths Day. Firstly, children enjoyed taking part in the international Mathletics competition, where they completed Live Mathletics challenges against children all around the world. 

Year 6 also enjoyed researching the famous mathematician and astronomer Galileo Galilei. As they had been learning about our moon and wider solar system over the past few weeks, they were interested in learning more about the famous astronomer and his mathematical methods for researching our solar system. Each child decided whether they would like to present their learning as either a poster or a short film created using iMovie. Throughout the day, Year 6 enjoyed taking part in a range of mathematics challenges. They were proud of themselves for showing determination to complete tricky questions and were able to work together to use reasoning and problem-solving skills.
