Year 3 -Sharika Chaucen - Festival of reading

Today year 3 had a very special visitor. Sharika Chaucen, a children's author, shared with us her love for storytelling and recounts of her travels and adventures around the world.

Sharika has written a series of wonderful stories about a young girl, Maya, and her explorations.The travel adventure series, 'Maya's Worldly Wonders' is aimed at readers aged 5–11. It follows the adventures of Maya, a young South Asian girl, as she travels to under-explored destinations around the world. The books focus on themes of cultural diversity, inclusion, and empowerment for both girls and boys, inspiring curiosity and confidence in children. Through her books, Sharika aims to inspire children to be brave, bold and find their own adventures.

Year 3 enjoyed listening to extracts from the books read by Sharika and had the opportunity to ask her questions about the stories and Sharika's experience as an author.
