Year 3 - Stone Age Cave Paintings

This week year 3 recreated what it was like to be a Stone Age artist painting pictures of animals on the walls of a cave. Prior to this, we discussed how we knew people during the Palaeolithic Period hunted wild animals, like the giant woolly mammoth, and made tools such as spears and harpoons. We know, in part, due to the discovery of cave paintings that have been discovered around the world. We looked at the cave paintings found in Star Carr in Yorkshire. When creating our cave paintings, we used natural pigments such as turmeric and coffee beans to create an authentic look to our artwork.
