Year 3 - Dragon Eggs

This week we made a very exciting discovery in the woods - a dragon had left her eggs behind, along with a book titled 'Dragonology'. We took them back to our classroom and decided to become dragonologists - so that we could be experts in caring for and protecting the dragons when they hatch. 

We learnt all about the lifespan and anatomy of a dragon, as well as what happens when it reaches full maturity. We even found out about the dragon's weak spot and the reasons they have been slain in the past. At the end of the week we wrote reports about dragons, sharing what we had discovered. In Maths we have been revising our knowledge of the 3 times tables, practising multiplying two digit numbers by 1, 2, 5 and 10, and dividing with remainders.

This week we started a new topic in Science - Forces! The children have learnt new vocabulary this week - force, gravity, air resistance, friction and thrust. Ask them to give you examples of these forces, can you spot any on the journey to school? The children had a blast making horizontal rockets and spotting the forces in action.
