Year 5 - Maylands MasterChef
Back to Latest News
This week, Year 5 have enjoyed taking part in Maylands MasterChef. All children have worked well together in teams to create the traditional French dish of Ratatouille.
Firstly, children went to the local supermarket to buy the ingredients they needed for their dish. In the shop, all children showed impressive budgeting skills and ensured they were looking at the prices to buy ingredients with the best value for money. They were also able to use their knowledge of money to pay for their ingredients. All children showed fantastic Behaviours for Learning at the supermarket and they impressed many members of the public with their respect and positive attitudes.
Back in school, children began to cook their dish. They washed, chopped and cooked the vegetables, peeled and boiled the potatoes and combined all their ingredients together to create the dish. During the Food Technology session, children ensured they were aiming high, staying positive and demonstrating excellent communication skills. They also followed all the kitchen safety rules to ensure they were always staying safe and hygienic. After their hard work, all children were proud of their creation and they enjoyed trying a new dish.
Well done to all of Year 5 for being Marvellous Maylanders this week!
