Year 5 & 6- Lisa Thompson Author Visit

Year 5 and 6 were extremely privileged to spend the afternoon with Lisa Thompson, the author of famous books such as ‘The Goldfish Boy’ and ‘The Light Jar’.

Lisa shared a little bit about her life, her favourite genres and all about the process of finding inspiration for her stories. We were even lucky enough to hear a chapter from her most recent book, ‘The Treasure Hunters’.

The children thought of some fantastic questions for Lisa!

Chizam asked for some advice for young writers. Lisa gave some great advice which was to write about what you love and take inspiration from the things you enjoy.

Lisa answered Hiya’s question of how to make writing more interesting, where she explained how she uses ‘show, don’t tell’ in her stories and how to add in exciting twists.

Lisa gave Lucy some great advice on how to have the courage to write a book.
