Year 6 - Pumpkin Pie
Back to Latest News
This Thursday people across Canada and the United States will be celebrating Thanksgiving. But do you know what it is all about? Well, this week Year 6 have been learning all about this North American holiday. We heard the traditional tale of the original Thanksgiving, and learnt what the real story is too! Then we looked at the traditions and customs that happen each year as part of the celebrations.
After finding out about some of the delicacies enjoyed as part of the Thanksgiving Feast we decided to make our own pumpkin pies. The children used pumpkins that had been grown on the school grounds, so first they had to gut and roast the vegetables to prepare a puree. Then, we used the homemade pumpkin puree to prepare our pies. Year 6 said the pies were delicious!
In Science, the children made revision posters to share their learning about the circulatory system. They included key facts, diagrams or illustrations and technical vocabulary. Ask your child to tell you their three favourite facts about the circulatory system!
