Year 1 Oak Centre
Back to Latest News
A wonderful week to end the first term of Year 1!
Following our recent animals learning in Science, Rabbit Class and Squirrel Class took a trip over to Drapers' Academy to visit the Oak Centre and all of the lovely animals there, from ducks and chickens, to guinea-pigs and fish! We also took this opportunity to take a short walk of the local area and observe the different landmarks, with a stop at the post-box to past the letters children have worked very hard to write.
The children were excited to meet the rabbits that have recently found their new home in Reception and look forward to many more upcoming visits!
In Science, Year 1 took on the role of chefs at an animal restaurant, deciding which dishes they would serve up to carnivore, herbivore and omnivore guests.
At Forest School, Year 1 displayed fantastic creativity using items in nature, such as leaves and twigs, to create spiral patterns inspired by Henri Matisse's 'Snail', as studied in a recent Art lesson. They also worked together with their partner to follow a guided trail with their eyes closed.
