Year 1 - Material hunt and Big Plant Out

This week we had a very special science lesson. We learnt about materials and we went for a Material Hunt around the school. We realised, using magnets, that some metals are magnetics, but only the metals that have iron on them! We were so interested in the topic that we had to take our magnets to the hall at lunch time to check if our cutlery had iron in them.

Our year 1 gardeners have a very big responsibility after our ‘Big Plant Out’. They need to ensure that our beans and courgettes have enough water to keep growing and growing!

During our Forest School session, we enjoyed looking for minibeasts and we found a caterpillar that was smaller than our fingernails! The forest looked so beautiful as it was covered in bluebells, and we were very careful not to step on them. We also enjoyed making hot chocolate!
