Year 6 - Sculpture

Following our learning about the celebration Dia de los Muertos, the children were inspired to create their own sculptures in the style of Pedro Linares' 'Alebrijes'.

They designed their alebrijes to include features that represent the elements; wind, fire, earth and water. Each alebrije should (by design) by individual fantastical creatures, so the children thought carefully about how to add their own individuality to their design.

This month they have been using the slip, score and blend technique to create their designs from clay. Once they have dried they will use paint to decorate their alebrijes with bright colours and patterns.
