Year 1 - Ethel and Schnell

This week in Year 1, we have had two visitors that stayed the week, one in each class – Ethel and Schnell, Giant African Land snails. We have spent the week learning how to look after them: making sure they have water fresh fruit or vegetables and spraying their tanks to keep the soil damp each day.

In Science, we have also continued our learning about animals by discussing what animals eat and whether or not that makes them a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. While learning, we opened an Animal restaurant, where we took the orders of the different animals, discussed if that was an apportioned order and prepared their dinner plates.

Finally we enjoyed spending some time in the library, listening to different stories being read to us and reading different stories to each other.
