This week we have been doing some more work learning about rivers. We have been identifying rivers in different maps and comparing some of the most famous rivers in the world, the Nile, the Amazon and the Thames.

To help us to  think about how long a river is, we went outside onto the playground to measure out the relative lengths of these rivers. Did you know that if the River Nile was 10m long the River Thames, in relative size, would only be 50cm long?

The children enjoyed using tape measures and did some great teamwork to measure out the three lengths and draw them out with chalk.
