We had a busy first week back after the half term break. As there had been plenty of sunshine and rain, many of our fruits and vegetables were ready for harvest! The vegetables are being delivered to the kitchen where the children can enjoy eating them as part of their lunch.

Reception had a wonderful time painting Monet inspired Water Lilies in the sunshine – and produced some beautiful art work. They harvested so many strawberries that they have had to be frozen for future use! They also enjoyed tasting thier radishes in the lunch salads this week.

Yr 1 enjoyed creating Woodland People during their Forest School session and using their printing/layering skills to create a work of art in the DT Room.

Year 2 had a great time working with the Artist in Residence in the DT Room, on some Van Gough inspired artwork. They also had fun in the sun when exploring the outdoor environment for various materials as part of their Science lesson.

Year 3 and 4 had an exciting time visiting Colchester Castle, looking at artefacts and tools and learning what they were used for. They even took part in some role play and built replicas of an Iron Age roundhouse and Roman Villa.

This week Year 5 and 6 have experienced a fun and engaging week based on China. ‘My Week in China’ has allowed our children to experience Chinese culture, geographical landmarks and Mandarin. They have received online virtual lessons from a teacher and engaged in interactive exercises, which have helped to consolidate their learning.
