This week in Year 1 we have been learning about a point of interest in our local area - McDonalds. We learnt that it used to be the 'Bow and Arrow pub' which opened in 1964 before changing into a McDonalds in 1997. The reason it was called the 'Bow and Arrow' is that Harold Hill used to be crown lands where people used bow and arrows to hunt deer. We created our own bow and arrows and had a competition to see how far we could shoot it. The furthest distance that a child was able to shoot was 22m!

During our Forest School session, we explored the forest from both up high and down low by climbing trees and searching for insects on the ground. We were even lucky enough to see a herd of deers quite close. Some of us even continued to practise using our bow and arrows and became quite accurate with them.
