In Year 3, we enjoyed our trip to the Natural History Museum so much, that we decided to prepare and host our own fantastic exhibition of artefacts.

We began by excavating a variety of artefacts from boxes of sand and thinking about what they might be, and any questions we had about them. After learning about the features of a museum exhibit, we spent the next week researching these artefacts and preparing information plaques about them.

We created display backdrops for our exhibits by repurposing cardboard boxes, cutting them into shape and painting them black.

On the afternoon of the exhibition, we created a museum atmosphere in our classrooms by dimming the lights and placing small lights around our artefacts to light them up. All of us had different jobs, including exhibit curators, education officers, tour guides and security guards. We welcomed children from Years 2, 4 and 6 who came to visit our exhibition. We really anjoyed sharing everything that we had learned about our artefacts!
