This week the children have written invitations and menus, baked banana bread and breakfast muffins, and proudly hosted their guests at Mary's Big Breakfast. Thank you to the adults who came along and supported the children, and donated generously to our cause.

As well as preparing for our fundraiser, the children continued their learning about The Vikings. They have learnt about the treaty between King Alfred and the Saxons, and King Guthrum and the Vikings, the creation of 'Danelaw', the names of some important Viking Gods and the legend of King Canute, the most famous Viking King.

In Writing this week the children wrote their own 'elfje' poems, a viking poem that follows a very particular structure. Ask your child to explain how to write an elfje poem at home!

In Science we have begun our Biology topic, learning about nutrition and discussing the importance of a healthy, balanced diet for humans. The children have learnt the names of the main food groups, and why each one is so important for our growth and health.

This week the children have continued practising doubling in maths, following the steps of: partitioning the number; doubling each part; and then adding it back together. They have also revised their understanding of the different types of angles (right, acute and obtuse), spotting them in 2d shapes and sorting the shapes accordingly.

Seal Class enjoyed climbing, exploring, building, laughing and playing with the forest friends at Forest School today.
