On Wednesday, Year 2 travelled all the way to the Royal Observatory of Greenwich. The day was filled with exciting learning and tasks for us to do.

We went through a micro gallery where there were lots of photos of the Earth and Space. We got to touch the oldest object we will ever touch and that was a 4.5 billion-years-old meteorite!

We went inside the Planetarium to watch Teds Space Adventure and learn all about the planets on our Solar System.

Year 2 spotted the Prime Merdian Line, this separates the eastern hemisphere from the western hemisphere. Did you know that this is the only place you can be standing on both the eastern and western hemisphere at the same time?

We walked through the Royal Observatory, looking at all the different telescopes that astronomers once used to uncover the universe’s secrets. We also took a glimpse of the Flamsteed House, where the Astronomers Royal and their families lived and worked. Here, we could find many interesting artefacts and historical clocks.

Finally, we went to the viewing point where we could observe London from the distance. There were many tall buildings, the Queens house, the O2 and the river Thames

We learnt so many new things and had such a great time!
