Yesterday was a very special day for two of our pupils, Luke Waylands and Melissa Stoian, representing Drapers' Maylands Primary School. We travelled to the Drapers Hall to present Her Majesty, the Queen with flowers after her lunch to celebrate 70 years as a member of the Drapers Company.
As we went through the doors to wait on the steps for Her Majesty we were greeted with a large crowd. They all said 'ahh' because the children looked so wonderful and smart in their uniform while they waited patiently for the Queen to collect her bouquet. She asked them if they enjoyed school and (even though they were quite in awe) they both said yes and I explained that we had travelled up in the holidays by train to meet her.
Luke handed her the bouquet and she said 'thank you very much- that's very kind'. It was a great honour to meet the Queen and it is a moment that the children will remember for the rest of their lives.
